Movie Radar March 2010
Upcoming films that I am excited about.
A Prophet (Un Prophet) by Jacques Audiard
Everything about the look of this film right now has me swooning in my head. The shots are crisp and the score attached to the trailer has me all excited for what looks like a film, filled to the brims, with rich character development. Also you can never get enough crime drama.
Terribly Happy by Henrik Ruben Genz
This film looks like the offspring of David Lynch and Hot Fuzz by Edgar Wright. I am a big fan of all things that are unsettling and weird in movies and this one looks like it has everything going for it.
Kick-Ass by Matthew Vaughn
I am a big fan of this comic series by Mark Millar. The idea of superheros in the real world isn’t anything new, but Millar puts his spin on it by crafting a comic full of humor, great characters and over the top violence. Big Daddy and Hit Girl are probably one of my favorite duos since Batman and Robin (the new duo currently being written by Grant Morrison is amazing but I can talk about that later). From the online raves about this film to these fun trailers, Kick-Ass is looking to be a great comic book film.
MicMacs by Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Amelie is probably the most enjoyable, happy film that I have viewed. The characters were as charming as the beautiful art direction throughout the film. This film looks to be just as interesting and quirky as his last.
